Girls basketball: Here are the 2024 All-North Jersey teams
After an exciting season, the following players have been selected to the 2024 All-North Jersey girls basketball teams.
The North Jersey Girls Basketball Player of the Year will be announced at the North Jersey High School Sports Awards, presented by Englewood Health, on June 28. All first-team players are nominees for Player of the Year.
FIRST TEAM
Julianna Almeida
Saddle River Day senior guard/forward
A repeat first-teamer, Almeida helped clinch the Rebels’ eighth straight Bergen County championship with a pair of clutch free throws late in the title game. The North Arlington resident led her team in scoring (17.1 average), rebounding (7.5) and blocks (1.3) and heads to Navy having netted 1,003 career points.
Alyssa Craigwell
Secaucus senior guard
Craigwell repeats on the first team after powering Secaucus to its third NJIC Tournament title all-time and a third consecutive sectional-final appearance. She led the team in points (19.8), rebounds (9.3) and steals (2.6), adding 29 three-pointers to bring her four-year totals to 1,648 points and 126 threes.
Samantha Serrano
Holy Angels senior guard
Serrano ascends from the second team after carrying the No. 1 scoring average in North Jersey at 26.1. She led the Angels to the Bergen County Tournament semifinals for the first time since 2013, chipping in 7.4 rebounds and 3.9 steals per game while making 73 threes to end her career with 1,443 points.
Allie Shenloogian
Park Ridge junior guard
The author of the top point total in North Jersey (686) averaged 23.6 per game but did so much more in pacing the Owls to their first sectional title. Shenloogian also led her team in rebounds (6.2 average) and steals (4.7) and finished second in assists (2.8) while upping her career point total to 1,676.
Siena Shuster
Wayne Hills senior forward
Shuster keyed Wayne Hills’ run to its first Passaic County championship since 1982, averaging 18.7 points and 19 rebounds in the tournament. For the season, she led her team in points (18.3), rebounds (14.6), steals (3.2) and blocks (1.3), and she moves up from the third team after totaling 1,050 career points.
Demi Simpson
Teaneck senior forward
Simpson dominated in the post, averaging 13 rebounds and 3 blocks per game as the Highwaywomen reached the Bergen County final and repeated as North 1, Group 3 champs. She scored 13.1 per game to finish with 806 points in four years and eclipsed the millennium mark in career rebounds (1,027).
