Giants’ Patrick Graham laughs off head coaching speculation

For the second consecutive season, New York Giants defensive coordinator Patrick Graham has become the focus of much head coaching speculation.

Graham has been named a potential head coaching candidate by multiple outlets, with Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reporting that buzz is mounting in league circle. That, of course, comes on the heels of several teams expressing interest in Graham just a year ago.

Among those teams was the New York Jets, who were denied an interview with Graham after he decided to sign an extension with the Giants.

Asked about the mounting speculation on Thursday, Graham literally laughed off the idea of moving on from his current post.

“The ‘Pat Graham, get fired’ buzz was starting, too,” Graham told reporters, referencing the defense’s poor start this season. “I don’t even think about. Again, I’m a New York Giant, I love being a New York Giant. This is my dream job to be here representing this organization for the people.

“I’ve told you, some of my best friends, the head coach is one of my best friends, the ownership, the fact that the people I learned football from are New York Giants — I couldn’t ask for a better situation. I (couldn’t) care less about that stuff.”

And you know Graham isn’t lying, either. He has repeatedly called the Giants his “dream job” and hasn’t budged from that stance. Not once, not for a single second.

Whether that holds true come the offseason remains to be seen, but Graham appears determined to stick with the Giants and ride things out with Joe Judge.
