Giants’ Logan Ryan: Daniel Jones is ‘tough as nails’

New York Giants safety Logan Ryan praised Daniel Jones’ grit as the quarterback is currently dealing with a few lower-body injuries.

It was first the hamstring strain and now it is the tweaked ankle for Jones. However, the former Patriots and Titans safety knows the perseverance of the 23-year-old, especially in situations like these.

“Our quarterback is tough as nails. I’m not going to speak on what his percentage is, I don’t think anybody is really 100 percent at this point in the year,” Ryan told reporters on Wednesday.

Ryan himself has only missed three games in his eight-year career so far, so he is coming from experience when he calls the Duke quarterback “tough as nails.”

However, for Ryan, Jones’ health is obviously a concern but is not something he is harping on as he is trying to key into things that he can control.

“But you’ve got to go out there and do the best you can in your job. For us, like I told you guys weeks ago, whether it’s Colt [McCoy], Daniel [Jones], Joe Judge in his quarterback days, it don’t matter who we’ve got out there, we’ve got to go out there and play good defense, we’ve got to go out there and defend the grass, we’ve got to go out there and get turnovers. That’s all I can control, that’s what I will control and do a better job for the New York Giants of having some dominant defense and getting our offense more opportunities with the ball,” Ryan said.

The Giants are coming off their first loss in over five weeks. The Rutgers product and his teammates are trying to continue to turn things around in East Rutherford and while the defeat in Week 14 against the Cardinals was a setback it was not the be-all-end-all.

Big Blue is still one game out of the playoffs with three matches left on the schedule. For the most part, this team controls their own destiny, and if they can have the “dominant defense” that Ryan desires then they will most definitely have an opportunity at going to the big dance.
