GHSA softball playoffs: Each Athens-area team that advanced in the Elite Eight in Columbus
Here are the Athens-area teams that advanced in the Elite Eight, scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 25 through Saturday, Oct. 28 in Columbus, Ga., and their upcoming opponents.
Class AAAA
North Oconee (27-6)
The Titans advanced to the second game in the Elite Eight, defeating Perry 11-1. They will play Wayne County on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 3 p.m.
The winner will advance to play the winner of Heritage, Catoosa/Whitewater on Friday, Oct. 27 at 5 p.m.

Class A-Division 1
Prince Avenue Christian (33-0)
The Wolverines advanced to the second game in the Elite Eight, defeating Metter 13-1. They will play Heard County on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m.
The winner will advance to play the winner of Mount Vernon/Bacon County on Friday, Oct. 27 at 3 p.m.

Eliminated teams
Apalachee (25-8)
The Wildcats fell to Pope in game seven of the Class AAAAAA Super Regionals.
Jackson County (17-9)
The Panthers fell to East Paulding in game five of the Class AAAAAA Super Regionals.
Winder-Barrow (13-13)
The Bulldoggs fell to Villa Rica in game five of the Class AAAAA Super Regionals.
Jefferson (20-8)
The Dragons fell to Cartersville in game seven of the Class AAAAA Super Regionals.
East Jackson (7-15)
The Eagles fell to North Cobb Christian in game three of the Class AA Super Regionals.
Commerce (9-15)
The Tigers fell to Jasper County in game five of the Class A-Division 1 Super Regionals.
Oglethorpe County (2-22-1)
The Patriots fell to Whitefield Academy in game three of the Class A-Division 1 Super Regionals.
