George Springer pulls off opening-day feat you've never seen before

By now, Houston Astros star George Springer is no stranger to the big stage. He’s the reigning World Series MVP after all, a guy who hit five homers in the seven games vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers.

So how did Springer start off 2018? With a homer, of course.

[Still not too late to join a Yahoo Fantasy Baseball league]

It came to lead off the Astros’ 4-1 win over the Texas Rangers. Astute fans might recall that Springer did the same thing in 2017, giving him two straight seasons with a lead-off homer. It’s enough to make you wonder: How many times has that happened? The answer: None.

Welcome to the record books, George Springer!

Think about it this way: The last game Springer played in 2017, his team won the World Series and he was the MVP. The first game of 2018, he pulled off an opening-day feat that no other player has ever accomplished.

Springer better figure out something historic to do in the Astros’ next game.
