FRIDAY PREP ROUNDUP: Effingham baseball only musters one hit, but still finds a way to beat Altamont

Mar. 25—EFFINGHAM — One hit was all that the Effingham baseball team needed on Friday against Altamont.

Kaskaskia baseball recruit Camden Raddatz hit an RBI triple in the first inning for the game's first run. It was also the first and last hit for the Flaming Hearts (4-0) in their 4-0 win over Altamont at Evergreen Hollow Park.

The key to the victory?

Having a keen eye at the plate.

Effingham drew nine walks in the game.

"I feel like our approaches have been backward the past couple of games, but we were still able to get runners on base and create a little bit of chaos there," Hearts head coach Curran McNeely said.

"I was telling the boys if we want to be a championship-quality team when you out-hit a team and only give up one hit, you better win that game," Indians head coach Alan Whitt added.

Kaden Koeberlein threw seven innings for EHS, allowing six hits with three strikeouts.

Kaden Davis had two hits for Altamont (2-3).

Lake Land baseball recruit Nathan Stuemke had one, and Eli Miller, Riley Berg, and Justin Magelitz also had one knock.
