Frank, Joosten, Peters, Poppen, DeGroot and Stillman honored for Aberdeen Central

Seniors Aspen Reynolds of Watertown and Ciara Frank, Lauren Joosten, DeShani Peters and Kailyn Poppen of Aberdeen Central have been named to the 2023 All-Eastern South Dakota Conference girls soccer team.

Reynolds notched eight goals and two assists the Arrows this fall. Watertown tied for fifth in the ESD with a 3-5 record.

Aberdeen Central shared the league title with Harrisburg and Mitchell (each 7-1) and received repeat All-ESD honors from Frank, Peters and Poppen. Senior Bailey DeGroot and junior Kirra Stillman of Aberdeen were honorable-mention selections for the Golden Eagles.

Other repeat selections include seniors Hailee Christensen, Jaylee Hofer and Elsie Odney of Harrisburg; seniors Miah Muellenmeister and Adelyn Prunty of Mitchell; and senior Ryann Berry of Pierre. Harrisburg senior Stella Litzen received honorable mention on the all-conference team in 2022.

Other All-ESD Players

The honors squad includes juniors Chloe Erickson and Madison Pederson of Brandon Valley; senior Elise Lefers of Brookings; senior Ella Weide and juniors Taylor Halstenson and Tierney Mullady of Harrisburg; sophomore Kassedy Knippling of Mitchell; junior Aly Hutchinson and sophomore Jasmine Jost of Pierre; and junior Tessa Gilles of Yankton.

Other Honorable Mention

Senior Maddie Kempf, juniors Makenzie Peterson and Tenley Peterson and sophomore Kenzie Kayl of Mitchell; senior Abigail Flanagan of Harrisburg; and senior Aubrie Lloyd of Yankton.

The final conference standings: 1. (Tie) Aberdeen Central, Harrisburg and Mitchell, each 7-1-0; 4. Pierre, 4-3-1; 5. (Tie) Watertown 3-5-0 and Brandon Valley 2-4-2; 7. Yankton, 2-5-1; 8. Brookings, 2-6-0; 9. Huron, 0-8-0.
