Former Westlake coach Todd Dodge is coming out of retirement.

The Dallas Morning News has reported that Dodge will be the new coach at Lucas Lovejoy after being approved by the district’s school board Saturday.

Dodge led Westlake from 2014-21, winning Class 6A state titles in his final three seasons and going undefeated the last two.

He also took the Chaps to the state championship game in 2015, when they fell to Galena Park North Shore in overtime.

His record at Westlake was 104-13.

Dodge previously won four state titles during a seven-year stint at Southlake Carroll. He has also coached at Cameron Yoe, Carrollton Newman Smith, Keller Fossil Ridge and Marble Falls in his career.

Lovejoy went 12-2 and won District 7-5A Division II in the fall while advancing to the regional final.

There won’t be any potential playoff meetings between Westlake and Lovejoy anytime soon as Lovejoy turned in an enrollment of 1,593 for the upcoming two-year realignment cycle and is firmly in Class 5A Division II.
