Former Steelers WR Martavis Bryant signs with Toronto Argonauts

The Toronto Argonauts of the CFL announced on Monday they signed former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant. Bryant spent his first four seasons in the NFL with the Steelers after they drafted him in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL draft.

Bryant was one of the most physically gifted receivers in the NFL but could never stay out of his own way long enough to show it. Multiple suspensions for violations of the league’s substance-abuse policy, one of which cost him the entire 2016 season derailed any chance of NFL success he might have envisioned for himself.

In Bryant’s first two NFL seasons, he amassed 76 receptions for 1,314 receiving yards and 15 total touchdowns while only starting eight of those games.
