Former Sixers star Andre Iguodala announces retirement after 19 seasons

Retirement catches up with everybody in the NBA. Eventually, players realize that they don’t have any more to give to the game and the time is right to call it a career.

On Friday morning, former Philadelphia 76ers star Andre Iguodala announced that it was his time after 19 seasons in the league. Iguodala was selected with the 9th overall pick in the 2004 NBA draft and he played eight seasons for Philadelphia being selected an All-Star in 2012. He averaged 15.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.7 steals while a member of the Sixers.

He was then sent to the Denver Nuggets in the big Andrew Bynum deal before joining the Golden State Warriors where he won four titles and was named finals MVP in 2015.

Iguodala will be remembered for doing it all on the court. He was able to score the ball, play elite defense, and made plays for others. He is probably best remembered in Philadelphia for sinking two free throws to help the 8 seed Sixers upset the top seed Chicago Bulls in the 2012 playoffs.
