Former Holliday, WF Rider star Jalynn Bristow commits to Texas Tech women's basketball

Jalynn Bristow is returning to Texas.

The Holliday grad, who spent her first three years of high school at Wichita Falls Rider, announced her commitment to Texas Tech women's basketball Wednesday morning.

Bristow, a 6-foot-2 forward, played at Iowa State for one season. She averaged 5.1 points and 3.7 rebounds in 15.1 minutes per game. She appeared in 33 games with two starts.

Bristow shot 47.7% overall and 37.9% from 3-point range, making 22 field goals from beyond the arc.

In a post with her commitment graphic, she wrote, 'Loyal to the Soil.'

Bristow was part of Iowa State's 2023 recruiting class that included standout Audi Crooks, a first-team all-Big 12 selection. The group, self-dubbed the "Swag Wag Five," provided the highest percentage of scoring by freshmen in the nation.

As a senior, Bristow led Holliday to its first state championship. The Eagles defeated reigning Class 3A champion Fairfield to finish 34-3 overall. Bristow scored 21 points on 8 of 11 shooting and added 14 rebounds in the title game. She had 35 points and 18 rebounds in the semifinals.

Tech beat Iowa State in their only meeting last season. Bristow shot 4 of 4, including 2 of 2 from deep, to net 10 points in the Lady Raiders' 71-63 upset of then-No. 24 Iowa State at United Supermarkets Arena. She also had two rebounds, an assist and a steal in 20 minutes.

Incoming freshman Kalysta "Bird" Martin and Bristow are the first confirmed newcomers for Tech. The team is replacing six players between graduation and the transfer portal, which includes the departed Elina Arike, Ashley Chevalier, Jazion Jackson and Saga Ukkonen.
