Former high-profile Michigan State commit Emoni Bates is transferring to Eastern Michigan

The story of Emoni Bates has to be one of the weirdest, and most interesting stories we have seen in the history of college basketball recruiting.

Bates was once heralded as the best high school basketball prospect since Kevin Durant. He then committed to Michigan State, before de-committing and heading to Memphis for one incredibly disappointing season. Now, Bates is heading back home where he will transfer to Eastern Michigan.

Getting out of the spotlight might be a good move for Bates, but this is a weird chapter in a bizarre story for someone who was once mentioned in conversations with guys like Lebron James and Kevin Durant.
