Former Duck Justin Herbert ranks as a Top 5 NFL quarterback

The Los Angeles Chargers have to feel like they hit the jackpot when they selected Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert No. 6 of the 2020 NFL draft.

In his three short seasons, Herbert has tallied up just over 14,000 yards through the air, 94 touchdowns and 35 interceptions. He’s taken the NFL by storm and the only thing left he needs to do is to lead the Chargers to their second-ever Super Bowl appearance.

Many think 2023 is the year for Herbert to play in the biggest football game of the season. According to TouchdownWire.com, Herbert, just from his eye-popping stats alone, is a Top 5 quarterback playing today.

That ranking puts the former Sheldon High School star among those who have not only been to a Super Bowl, but one or two of them. Herbert will be the first one to tell you that while the stats are nice, it’s all about the wins and losses and bringing the Charger franchise its first-ever Lombardi Trophy.

That’s an accomplishment that another former Duck, Dan Fouts, couldn’t do and neither could Phillip Rivers.

This is what TouchdownWire.com writer Natalie Miller had to say about Herbert and his current ranking.

There’s not been very many players in the history of the game that have come into the league and put up the numbers that Justin Herbert has, and with the addition of offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, he could be in for his best season yet. With all the talent in the world and an array of weapons surrounding him, Herbert should once again put up some eye popping stats.
