Former Daily Record bowling columnist Joan Taylor Schleiwenz will be among five people inducted into the New Jersey United States Bowling Congress Hall of Fame on Saturday at the Bolero Resort in Wildwood.

Schliewenz, who has been a bowling writer for nearly 50 years, will be inducted in the Special Achievement category. A former director and president of the Metropolitan Bowling Writers Association, Schleiwenz was inducted into the Morris County Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1998, the Morris County WBA Hall of Fame in 2000, the International Bowling Media Association's Luby National Hall of Fame in 2011 and the Morris County Youth Association Hall in 2017.

“The state hall is something I never thought I would achieve,” Taylor Schliewenz said. “They have only two other members who were honored for bowling journalism, Pat McDonough and then his son, Dan. While I enjoy the sport, for me it is all about the people I have interviewed, most whom I consider as my bowling family. I am excited and grateful to be part of the three-day state Jamboree weekend’s festivities in October in front of my family and bowling friends.”

Here are this year's other inductees:

▶ Jeff Morin of Hopatcong has competed in the New Jersey championship tournament for at least 40 years, winning the All Events title in 1989 and 2003. Morin has accumulated 34 perfect 300 games, three 299s and 13 800s. He has a 225 composite average over 15 years.

▶ Frank Moran participated in the USBC Open Championship for 33 years, placing in the top five in the team event 12 times, in doubles three times, and in singles and all events once. He also earned multiple titles in the New Jersey state seniors tournament. Moran was awarded Somerset-Hunterdon Bowler of the Year four times, and is a member of the Somerset-Hunterdon USBC Hall of Fame. Moran has thrown 27 300s, a 299, and eight 800s. He has a 222 composite average over 15 years, with a high of 236.

▶ Richard J. Signorin, who has bowled in the state championship for more than 20 years, will be inducted in the Veterans category. He has at least 20 300 games, two 299 games, and at least 10 800 series. Signorin is already a member of the Somerset-Hunterdon County USBC Hall of Fame.

▶ Longtime bowling center proprietor Thomas J. Martino Sr. will be inducted in the Special Achievement category. He owned Hill Lanes in Old Bridge, Stelton Lanes in Piscataway, and, currently, Majestic Lanes in the Hopelawn section of Woodbridge. He served as a board member of the Bowling Proprietors' Association of America from 2008-16, and was awarded the presidents' medal for service in 2010.
