Former Celtics center Guerschon Yabusele inks deal with Real Madrid

Former Boston Celtics big man Guerschon Yabusele has managed to nab himself a deal playing for Euroleague and Liga ACB’s Real Madrid Baloncesto according to an official release from the organization noting the former No. 16 overall pick of Boston’s 2016 NBA draft will be joining the team for the 2021-22 season.

No further details are available. But, the Dreux native has managed to work his way onto one of the best teams in the world outside of the NBA after stints with the Nanjing Monkey Kings in the Chinese Basketball Association and with ASVEL in the Euroleague as well as representing his native France in the coming Tokyo Olympics.

Not bad for a player who struggled mightily in the NBA before he was waived by the Celtics in 2019.

Yabu — as he was often called in Boston — averaged 2.3 rebounds and 1.4 rebounds in his career with the Celtics.
