Football roundup: Recapping Friday's South Bend area postseason games

Here's a recap of the South Bend area high school football playoff games from Friday night.

INDIANA AREA PLAYOFFS

Class 6A-Sectional 2

Warsaw 31, Carroll (Fort Wayne) 17

The Tigers knocked off the defending Class 6A North champions at home.

Penn will host Warsaw for the sectional championship next week.

Class 5A -Sectional 10

Michigan City 6, LaPorte 5

Tyler Bush threw a 61-yard touchdown pass to Olijah Collins in the second quarter for the only points for the Wolves. LaPorte scored on a field goal from Jack Doty in the third and a safety that Michigan City willingly took with 14 seconds left in regulation.

Valparaiso 31, Chesterton 14

The defending 5A state champions march on. They'll host Michigan City in the final next week.

Class 5A-Sectional 11

Class 4A-Sectional 17

New Prairie 28, Kankakee Valley 21 (OT)

A Marshall Kmiecik 10-yard touchdown run on the first play of overtime, followed by a defensive stop allowed the Cougars to hold off the upset attempt from Kankakee Valley.

Culver Academy 46, Highland 13

With the win, Culver Academy will host New Prairie for the sectional title next week.

Class 4A-Sectional 18

NorthWood 56, South Bend Washington 14

NorthWood led 56-0 at halftime. Owen Roeder only had 85 passing yards, but four touchdowns for NorthWood. Landon Perry finished with 104 yards rushing and a touchdown, while Trevor Barrett added a pick-six on defense in the rout for NorthWood.

Northridge 49, Wawasee 20

Northridge led 49-0 at halftime. McClain Miller had three rushing touchdowns and Brayden Clark two passing scores in the victory. The Raiders will host NorthWood in the Sectional 18 title game next week.

Class 3A-Sectional 26

Knox 15, West Noble 13

Knox held off a late West Noble drive to win the battle of the unbeatens. Knox (11-0) will host Glenn in the sectional final next week.

Class 2A-Sectional 33

Bremen 21, Wheeler 18

Tyrus Graverson kicked the game-winning field goal with three minutes remaining to give the Lions the victory. He also intercepted a pass with a minute left to seal the win. As if that wasn't enough, Graverson had 147 yards receiving, including a 78-yard touchdown catch-and-run in the second quarter.

LaVille 50, Whiting 0

It was smooth sailing for the Lancers, who will now host Bremen in the Sectional 33 final next week. Jonathan Neese had three touchdown runs to lead LaVille's offense.

Class 1A-Sectional 41

North Judson 42, South Newton 0

North Judson cruised past South Newton.

Triton 56, Culver 0

It was another easy week for Triton, shutting out Culver Community. Jayden Overmyer and Vincent Prater had two rushing touchdowns each for Triton in the win. They will host North Judson in the sectional championship game next week.

MICHIGAN PLAYOFFS

Division 4-Region 2-District 1

Niles 42, Vicksburg 10

Sam Rucker had a rushing touchdown, a punt return for a touchdown and a long kickoff return that set up another Niles score as the Vikings cruised past Vicksburg in the postseason opener.

Paw Paw 16, Edwardsburg 7

Edwardsburg led 7-0 midway through the second quarter, but weren't able to hold on, ending its season with a 5-5 record. The Eddies scored on a short touchdown pass from Zeke Pegura to Grant Griffin.

Division 6-Region 3-District 1

Buchanan 29, Kalamazoo Hackett Catholic 21

The Bucks rallied from a 21-8 deficit to pick up a road playoff win. Buchanan had four interceptions on defense from four different players.
