Here are the football prospect camps that Iowa's best high school players will attend
It may be the offseason for high school football, but that doesn’t mean that some of the top players in Iowa are taking a few months off.
May, June and even July are prime months for college football programs to host prospect camps, where high school athletes from near and far put their talents on display in front of trainers and coaches.
It’s an opportunity for football players — mostly underclassmen, but some rising seniors — to have their abilities, as well as their attitude and work ethic, evaluated by some of the top coaches in college football.
For some players, their camp experience can end with a scholarship offer. For others, it’s an opportunity to put their name on a coach’s radar.
The Des Moines Register wanted to see where some of Iowa’s most talented football players were going to camp this summer. So, we reached out to over 70 of the state’s uncommitted recruits in the 2024 and 2025 classes — based on our rankings released in December.
Some players informed the Register that they were rehabbing injuries. Others don’t have their camp schedule set in stone yet, and even those that did respond can change or add to their plan.
But over 40 athletes did provide their camp schedules for the summer. We did not include specific camp dates, just the college camps that each player intends to attend.
Here are where some of Iowa’s best high school football players will be camping in the coming months.
