Florida still an 8-seed in CBS Sports bracketology ahead of Alabama game

The Florida Gators have just two games remaining on the 2023-24 regular-season schedule as the team prepares for its postseason push this month. Over a month and a half ago, Todd Golden’s team was a tournament afterthought, but thanks to a stretch of nine wins in 12 games, they enter Tuesday night’s affair with the Alabama Crimson Tide firm lock to make the Big Dance.

Ahead of the epic Southeastern Conference matchup, CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm released his latest bracketology update, in which Todd Golden’s team remained a No. 8 seed but moved over to the East Region. They are now matched up with the No. 9 TCU Horned Frogs in the opening round, with the No. 1 UConn Huskies and No. 16 Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans in Brooklyn, New York.

The Southeastern Conference is also represented by the top team in the West Region, the Tennessee Volunteers, followed by  Alabama (No. 4, South), the Auburn Tigers (No. 4, East), Kentucky Wildcats (No. 5, West), South Carolina Gamecocks (No. 5, Midwest) and Mississippi State Bulldogs (No. 10, East).

The Gators return home for a rematch against Alabama on Tuesday, March 5, inside the O’Connell Center. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. ET and the game will be broadcast on ESPN.
