Florida falls in latest CBS Sports FBS 1-131 rankings after UGA loss

After losing to the Georgia Bulldogs last week, the Florida Gators fell in the latest CBS Sports rankings of all FBS teams. They are currently the No. 42 team in the nation and the No. 9 team in the SEC. They are 19 spots ahead of Texas A&M, their opponent this weekend.

The Gators dropped four spots from last week’s No. 38 position. After the bye week, Florida hoped to improve against Georgia. Instead, they were dominated from start to finish. With the exception of a third-quarter run that saw the Gators force two turnovers and score 17 unanswered points, not much went right for Florida. The 42-20 final tally highlighted how different the two programs are right now.

This week, the Gators will take on an Aggies team sitting at 3-5. As up and down as Florida’s season has been, TAMU’s situation has quickly gone from optimistic to disastrous. After landing the best recruiting class in modern history, Texas A&M was expecting to compete for the SEC championship and possibly make the playoff. A Week 2 home loss to Appalachian State set their season off on the wrong foot. They have not won a game since their Sept. 24 neutral site matchup over Arkansas.

That game will be played at College Station on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for noon EDT. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
