Which Florida baseball players were named All-Americans in 2023?

The Florida Gators came one game shy of winning it all in 2023. It’s no surprise then that the Gators boast several All-Americans on the roster.

But keeping track of the various All-American lists can be a tall order. There are various outlets that present these annual honors — some more respected than others — and they don’t always agree on who the best players in the country are.

Still, it’s our job here at Gators Wire to keep a straight record of such matters, which means putting together a list of each player that received All-American honors in 2023.

Some of these players have worn the Orange and Blue for the last time and others are just getting started. Let’s take a look at which Gators are among the best in all of college baseball.

Wyatt Langford was the best player on Florida’s roster for two-straight seasons. He slashed .373/.498/.784 this year and hit 21 homers while driving in 57 runs.

He is one of two unanimous All-American First Teamers at UF, earning the nod from ABCA/Rawlings, Baseball America, D1Baseball, NCBWA and Perfect Game.

LHP/1B Jac Caglianone

Jac Caglianone is the other unanimous All-American First Teamer and for good reason. The two-way start shined most at the plate, crushing a BBCOR-era record 33 home runs and driving in 90 runs for the Gators.

SS Josh Rivera

Josh Rivera made the decision to come back to Florida for another year and it turned out to be the best move of his career. Now a fringe first-round candidate in the upcoming draft, Rivera somehow only landed on the All-American Second Team for ABCA/Rawlings, D1Baseball and Perfect Game, while Baseball American and the NCBWA pegged him as a Third Teamer.

RHP Hurston Waldrep

Although his ERA finished above 4.00, Hurston Waldrep was one of the top pitchers in the country this year and will be a first-round draft pick.

Only D1Baseball gave Waldrep the All-American nod, though. It seems like he should have contended for a First Team spot on multiple lists, but a single Second Team nod is all the Southern Miss transfer gets. It’s okay, he can wipe those tears with the signing bonus he gets next month.

RHP Brandon Neely

Brandon Neely was among the best closers in all of college baseball this year. He got the All-SEC nod pretty easily, but only the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association named him to the All-American Second Team.

Neely is playing with Team USA over the summer and will be a high-profile closer once again for Florida in 2024. Perhaps he’ll move up to the First Team next year.

LHP Cade Fisher

Cade Fisher emerged as one of the best freshman left-handers in all of college baseball last year. He made two starts, one at the beginning of the season and another in the playoffs. Fisher struck out 48 batters over 49 1/3 innings of work while maintaining a 3.10 earned run average.

Fisher is one of the bright young stars on this Florida roster and it’s not surprising to see him make the Perfect Game Freshman All-American Team this year.

2B Cade Kurland

Another Cade. Another freshman. Another Gator on the Perfect Game Freshman All-American roster. D1Baseball also gave him the nod.

Kurland set a record at Florida for the most home runs by a freshman and a second baseman with 17 big flies. He finished the season just shy of a .300 batting average a .297, but he was trusted as the team’s leadoff man for most of the season.
