The Minnesota Vikings will finish their season playing the Chicago Bears at home. Playoffs aren’t on the line anymore. Maybe the Vikings will break their young players into the ballgame for some valuable experience. It would be nice to see Jayron Kearse get some action.

With that said, in week 17 we look forward to the future. Read below to answer some nagging questions that pertain to the oncoming offseason.

1. Adrian Peterson out?

It looks like Adrian Peterson’s time as a Viking may be over. He will missing the final game of the season. His commanding salary in 2017 will not be beneficial for the Vikings moving forward. He will either have to restructure or move on to a different team.

2. Teddy Bridgewater?

In a recent interview with Bleacher Report, Teddy Bridgewater spoke out about his injury. “It’s helped me spiritually and mentally. It’s a new challenge and I love challenges.” Bridgewater is focused on the task at hand and has motivated himself to overcome. Hopefully his efforts will improve his recovery time for a potential comeback at some point next season.

3. Stefon Diggs out?

Diggs is unlikely to play after being tagged doubtful for the afternoon. In his absence, Adam Thielen will be Sam Bradford’s’ top target.

4. Sharrif Floyd?

It looked like Floyd was blossoming into a young star at defensive tackle. 2016 was a different story, however. Floyd’s issues with nagging injuries have kept him out for the entire season. Earlier this year, Zimmer was on quote saying this, “ He is out of sight, out of mind.” That comment has brought his relationship with the young defensive tackle into question. Will he be back for next year?

5. Offseason plan?

It’s clear and evident, what the Vikings need to do before next year. An improved offensive line is a must going forward. Much of the draft efforts free agency focus will be on the offensive line. Rick Spielman has been phenomenal as Minnesota’s general manager, but he has a job to do this offseason. He and Mike Zimmer will working together quite a bit.

Wrap up

That does it for the final edition of Vikings Five Questions. It’s all about looking forward to next year. The ball didn’t roll the Vikings’ way in 2016 and it slowly took it’s toll on the team. Minnesota lost too much and couldn’t afford the damages.

An offseason of recovery will be the focus now. From monitoring Teddy Bridgewater’s progress, to free agency, to the draft, be sure to come back to get your major Vikings news.
