FHSAA 1R football state championship: Live updates, score from Northview vs. Hawthorne

Hawthorne is playing for the Class 1R state football championship against Northview tonight in Tallahassee.

Hawthorne saw its fair share of battles this season, but none like the one it saw when it visited Lake Butler, where the Hornets found themselves trailing the Union County Fightin' Tigers 21-0 at halftime.

Efficient offense and relentless defense in the second half put the Hornets in position to score the game-winning touchdown with mere seconds left on the clock. Hawthorne would go on to beat Union County 28-21 before coasting through the rest of the regular season and into the playoffs, where it knocked off Wildwood 33-15, Pahokee 21-20 and Blountstown 28-0 last week to set up the championship battle.
