Falcons signing TE Charlie Woerner to 3-year deal, per report

The Atlanta Falcons have agreed to terms with free-agent tight end Charlie Woerner on a three-year, $12 million contract, according to Woerner’s agent, Alex Essex. The move comes two weeks after the Falcons released secondary tight end Jonnu Smith for cap space.

Woerner, 26, fills the team’s need for a No. 2 tight end behind Kyle Pitts. The former sixth-round pick spent his first four seasons in San Francisco. Woerner is primarily a blocking specialist, recording just 11 catches for 120 yards for his career.

Thus far in free agency, the Falcons have agreed to terms with quarterback Kirk Cousins on a four-year, $180 million contract. Cornerback Jeff Okudah found a new home, signing a one-year deal with the Houston Texans.
