Falcons sign DT McClain to one-year, $4M deal

The Atlanta Falcons announced the signing of former Washington Redskins defensive tackle Terrell McClain on Friday.

According to multiple reports, the deal will be for one year and $4 million.

McClain, 29, took visits with the San Francisco 49ers, Miami Dolphins and Dallas Cowboys within the last week after Washington released him on April 30, just a year into a four-year, $21 million deal he signed as a free agent last offseason.

McClain had 2.0 sacks and 20 tackles in 2017 while appearing in 12 games (two starts). Through seven NFL seasons with five different teams, he has 6.5 sacks and 110 tackles across 74 games (29 starts).

Atlanta lost defensive tackles Dontari Poe and defensive end Adrian Clayborn to free agency this offseason, while linemen Ahtyba Rubin and Courtney Upshaw remain free agents. The Falcons drafted South Florida defensive tackle Deadrin Senat in the third round last month.

The team is also expected to explore an extension with Grady Jarrett later this offseason.
