Facts only: Bills QB Josh Allen leads the NFL in passing after 2 games

The headline pretty much gives it all away, but it’s true. Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen will most likely be the NFL leader in passing yards when the second week of game action is all said and done in the NFL. All we’re waiting for is the conclusion of Monday Night Football, but that’s just a formality at this point.

Allen currently has a slide edge on Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan for the top of the totem poll. Buffalo’s QB sits at 729 passing yards this season to Ryan’s 723. The Cowboys’ Dak Prescott, at 716, is the only other quarterback in the league with 700-plus yards through two games.

Helping Allen get to this total was his first-career 300-yard game in Week 1 against the Jets, which was quickly surpassed in Week 2 with his first 400-yard passing game, 417 yards in total, against the Dolphins.

Again, we do have to wait until the conclusion of Monday Night Football, but it would require a historic effort to surpass Allen. The Raiders will host their first-ever game in Las Vegas, and in order to take the NFL lead, their quarterback, Derek Carr, will need a 490-yard game.

The Raiders host the Saints and yes, Drew Brees has the most passing yards in league history… But in order to top Allen, Brees will need the most yards in a single game… ever. The current all-time high in a single outing from 1951 is 554 yards, but Brees will need 570 on primetime.

Safe to say, Allen is leading the league in passing yards after two games in 2020.

… as we all expected.
