Manchester United will play Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-finals after knocking out Liverpool at Old Trafford, in one of the most dramatic finishes to a match in the competition’s storied history. The holders Manchester City will take on Chelsea in the other semi-final - with a repeat of last season’s FA Cup final, between City and United, still a possibility.
Amad Diallo’s 120th minute winner in extra time ended Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp’s hopes of winning the quadruple, after the Reds had been minutes away from Wembley. Marcus Rashford scored a 112th minute equaliser, before Erik ten Hag’s side progressed.
Earlier today, Chelsea defeated 10-man Leicester in a six-goal thriller at Stamford Bridge, as Mauricio Pochettino’s side returned to Wembley after their defeat in the Carabao Cup final earlier this season.
Yesterday, the holders Manchester City – chasing an unprecedented double treble – beat Newcastle 2-0 to book their place in the last four, after Coventry City reached the semi-finals following their stunning comeback victory over Wolves.
The FA Cup semi-final ties will be played on the weekend of 20 April, with both matches taking place at Wembley Stadium.

The draw for the last four raises the prospect of a repeat of last season’s all-Manchester final.
Treble-chasing City eased through with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Newcastle on Saturday while Chelsea saw off Leicester 4-2.
United’s reward for a thrilling 4-3 extra-time victory over Liverpool on Sunday is a clash with Championship outfit Coventry, who stunned Wolves 3-2.
Coventry are managed by former United striker Mark Robins, scorer of a crucial winner as the Red Devils beat Nottingham Forest en route to winning the competition in 1990 – a goal widely believed to have saved Sir Alex Ferguson’s job as manager.
FA to work with police over ‘tragedy chanting’

The Football Association has vowed to work with Greater Manchester Police as it condemned the “tragedy chanting” heard during Manchester United’s FA Cup quarter-final win over rivals Liverpool on Sunday.
Chants of ‘Murderers’ and ‘Always the victims’ could be heard coming from a section of home supporters in the Stretford End at Old Trafford, with the singing audible on the live television broadcast on ITV 1.
The taunts were in reference to the Hillsborough disaster, where 97 Liverpool supporters lost their lives at or as a result of the FA Cup semi-final in April 1989.

Manchester United and Liverpool played out one of the all-time great FA Cup ties at Old Trafford as Amad Diallo’s 120th-minute winner settled a seven-goal thriller to send Erik ten Hag’s side through to the semi-finals.
Diallo’s breakaway strike deep into extra time denied Jurgen Klopp one last Wembley trip as Liverpool’s quadruple bid came crashing down at then hands of their fierce rivals, who managed to save their season in dramatic fashion.
Diallo was sent off after celebrating his winner, which came after Marcus Rashford had rescued United with a 112th-minute equaliser. Harvey Elliott had given Liverpool the lead in extra time but Klopp’s side were punished after wasting several chances in the second half.
Scott McTominay gave United a deserved lead in the 10th minute before Liverpool turned the game around through goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Mohamed Salah before half-time. The Reds dominated the second half but were wasteful and Antony came off the bench to send the quarter-final tie to extra time.

Erik ten Hag was skipping down the touchline in ungainly, awkward joy. A match to save Manchester United’s season, in his own description, may end up saving his job. It certainly ensured that Liverpool will not win the quadruple, that Jurgen Klopp’s reign will not end at Wembley in May’s FA Cup final and, as a result, that he will not face Pep Guardiola in England again.
But while United often delight in Liverpool’s misfortunes, the euphoria reflected an extraordinary end to an epic encounter. This was about United, about the manner of their rescue act and the improbability of it all. Amad Diallo’s lone United goal came three years ago. He has been a bit-part figure at best, but he emerged from margins to come off the bench, deliver an extra-time winner and be sent off for his celebration. While Ten Hag danced, Amad removed his shirt, at a cost of a second caution, but the telling part was the lightning counter-attack, Alejandro Garnacho releasing the Ivorian to slide his shot past Caoimhin Kelleher.

The FA Cup is United’s last chance of winning silverware this season, while Ten Hag’s side have the opportunity to deny Liverpool and Klopp their hopes of winning the quadruple in a huge game at Old Trafford.
Ten Hag has bemoaned United’s injury list throughout the season but said he had received some positive news before facing Liverpool with Hojlund, Maguire and right back Wan-Bissaka in contention.
“We had a good week,” Ten Hag said. “The players you mention returned on the pitch. Partly at the start of the week and today we had a session and they were all training.
“We have tomorrow one session. Of course, we have to see how they recover from this but it looks good.”

“I was disappointed, I waited for Mark downstairs and spoke to him because I was really respectful at the end, having lost a massive game, waited for them to finish their celebrations, shook everyone’s hands, congratulated them on a real good performance, reaching Wembley and what a fantastic achievement it was,” O’Neil said.
“And he apologised, but to celebrate in a young boy’s face like that I thought was disgusting, the boy is really upset. It shouldn’t happen, but I don’t have too much to say about it because we have lost and it’s going to seem bitter.
“But I thought it was really important to speak to Mark about it because they are just kids doing a job.”
Robins was regretful afterwards and admitted to letting his emotions get the better of him.
He said: “I have an apology to make, before the winner went in, the ball boy has the ball, a young kid, so I am apologising to him, he has the ball in his hand, drops it and walks away smiling.
“It really annoyed me, but he’s a kid, at the end of the day I have reacted, we scored the goal and I went and celebrated in front of him.
“I apologise to him. I do not show emotion very often and before that happened I apologise to him, I don’t show emotion very often but that is what the FA Cup does to you. I apologise to him unreservedly to him.”

Wolves boss Gary O’Neil described the behaviour of Coventry counterpart Mark Robins “disgusting” after he celebrated his side’s remarkable FA Cup quarter-final win in the face of a 13-year-old ball boy.
The Championship outfit stunned their Premier League opponents with two goals in added time to seal a 3-2 victory and book a first semi-final in this competition since they won it in 1987.
It was after Haji Wright’s winner at the death that Robins showed a rare sight of emotion by celebrating in front of a ball boy, who had irked him moments before.
Robins offered an unprompted apology in his press conference after the game, but O’Neil said the teenager was left distressed.

Coventry stunned Premier League Wolves with two goals in injury time to seal an amazing 3-2 win and book a first FA Cup semi-final appearance since 1987.
The Sky Blues went on to win the competition that year in one of the most famous finals ever and they kept their hopes of another unlikely triumph this season alive after a remarkable climax at Molineux.
It looked like they would be leaving with broken hearts after goals in the final 10 minutes, from Rayan Ait-Nouri and Hugo Bueno, overturned Ellis Simms’s opener and seemed to set a Wembley date for Wolves.
