Experts make College Football Playoff predictions following Alabama’s loss

The Alabama Crimson Tide entered the season ranked No. 1 in the nation following last season’s national championship win. Now, the quest for back-to-back national titles has hit a bump in the road following a tough loss on the road to an unranked Texas A&M team.

Alabama, now ranked No. 5, is outside of the top-four teams, which are the only teams that will compete for a championship when the regular season and conference championships conclude.

There are certain paths the to playoffs for Alabama, but for now, experts claim that things do not look good for Saban and the Tide.

ESPN college football experts Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach both exclude Alabama from their predictions, which both consist of Georgia, Iowa, Cincinnati and Oklahoma.

They both predict Alabama to face off against Oklahoma State in the Sugar Bowl.

CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm also has Alabama missing the playoffs, with Georgia, Iowa, Cincinnati and Oklahoma competing for a ring.

Palm predicts the Crimson Tide to compete in the Sugar Bowl against Texas.

ESPN had 14 staff writers make their predictions, which consisted of the same four that have been previously mentioned. However, only one of the 14 had Alabama included in the top four. David M. Hale predicts the Crimson Tide to just make it into the playoffs as the No. 4 seed.
