Exeter tighthead prop Marcus Street and scrum-half Stu Townsend have signed new contracts with the Premiership club.

Townsend, 28, came through Exeter's academy system and helped the side win their first Premiership title in 2017.

He has gone on to score 19 tries in 106 appearances since his debut in 2016.

Street, 25, also came through Chiefs' academy and has made 84 appearances since 2017.

The former England Under-20s player featured in Exeter's Premiership final loss to Harlequins at Twickenham three years ago.

“Stu is one of what you’d call our ‘senior guys’ - a guy who's been here in the time when we’ve won Premierships and trophies," said Chiefs director of rugby Rob Baxter.

“He’s a really important player to have staying at Sandy Park, to keep the ethos of what the club is about and the culture that we have within the club.

“Marcus, we think, has probably had his best season for Exeter," added Baxter.

"We’re aware he’s had some injury issues in the past and that he’s obviously had to compete against some frontline tightheads – like he’s had to do this season as well.

“I think we’ve seen him grow throughout the course of the year, particularly in his scrummaging which has come on leaps and bounds through working with [coach] Ross McMillan.

"In his overall play, he’s become a very important member of our pack of forwards."
