Ex-Cleveland Browns DB Buster Skrine arrested for fraud in Canada
Former Browns defensive back Buster Skrine was arrested for fraud in Canada, according to a report.
Skrine was charged by the Durham Region Financial Crimes Unit with defrauding Canadian financial institutions of more than $100,000.
Skrine is accused of opening bank accounts with bogus checks and withdrawing a portion of the funds before the checks cleared.
Skrine played for the Browns from 2011 to 2014 before moving on the New York Jets and eventually had stops in Chicago, Tennessee and San Francisco.
According to Sportrac.com, his career earnings totaled more than $40 million in an 11-year NFL career. He was a fifth-round draft choice of the Browns in 2011.
