Everything you need to know about the Warriors’ odds in the 2021 NBA draft lottery

June 22 will mark the official start of the draft season with the 2021 edition of the NBA draft lottery.

Before the Golden State Warriors find out where they’re picking in the draft order, Warriors Wire is looking over everything you need to know about Golden State’s lottery odds when they ping pong balls fall into place on Tuesday night.

Lottery Representative:

Tuesday evening, Golden State president and chief operating officer Rick Welts will represent the Warriors with 13 other teams at the draft lottery. The lottery will likely be one of Welts' final contributions to the Warriors before he is set to retire after 11 years with the franchise. Golden State's Pick:

With the Warriors finishing with the top record out of the 14 lottery teams, the best odds for Golden State's pick is to land at No. 14 overall. The Warriors have a 97.6% chance to stick at No. 14. Following the No. 14 pick, the Warriors have a slim opening of getting into the top four picks with a 0.7% chance to receive the No. 4 overall pick. Minnesota's Pick:

After Golden State's pick is announced, the Warriors will quickly shift their attention to the Minnesota Timberwolves' place in the lottery. The Warriors are slated to receive the Timberwolves' pick if it lands outside of the top three from the Andrew Wiggins - DeAngelo Russell blockbuster deal from the 2020 trade deadline. After finishing the season with the sixth-worst record in the NBA at 23-49, the Timberwolves' best odds sit at the No. 7 or No. 8 picks in the lottery. Minnesota has a 29.7% chance to get the No. 7 pick and a 20.6% probability to stick at the No. 8 pick. If Minnesota's pick lands at either No. 7 or No. 8, the Warriors will become owners of the pick. Following No. 7 and No. 8, the Timberwolves have a 9.6% chance to receive the fourth overall pick and an 8.6% chance to get the sixth overall pick in the lottery.
