Ethan Conn's 4 touchdowns help Artesia blasting the Goddard Rockets 54-14 at Bulldog Bowl
The Artesia Bulldogs football team gained redemption on the cross-town rivals of the Roswell Coyotes Friday night at the Bulldog Bowl.
The Bulldogs dominated the Goddard Rockets in the second District 5-4A game of the season after losing the league opener to the Coyotes Oct. 13 in Roswell 29-8.
The Bulldogs won 54-14 to even the record in league play with one more game to come next week.
Ethan Conn breaks out for the Bulldogs
The junior receiver scored four touchdowns for Artesia in the first half. Conn’s first touchdown of the game was a 15-yard run in the first quarter. The extra point kick was no good as Artesia extended the lead to 12-0.
Izac Cazares scored the opening touchdown of the night on the Bulldogs first drive of the game on a 17-yard strike from Estrada.

Conn’s second and third touchdowns occurred midway and late in the opening period as Artesia had a commanding 28-0 lead over the Rockets.
His final score of the game was a 4-yard run late in the first half. The extra point kick failed as the Bulldogs extended the lead 34-0.
Scoring not limited to Conn
The Bulldogs have a balanced offensive attack in 2023. Estrada, Conn, Cazares and Frankie Galindo have proven to be a headache for the opposition.
Galindo scored two touchdowns for the Bulldogs in the game. The first was a 15-yard catch from Estrada in the closing segments of the first half. Artesia converted the extra point kick and led 41-0 heading into halftime.
His second touchdown occurred early in the third quarter on Artesia’s opening drive of the second half on a 7-yard touchdown run. The extra point kick was good as the Bulldogs coasted to victory.
What is next for the Bulldogs
At 7 p.m. Oct. 27 in Artesia, the Bulldogs host the Las Cruces Mayfield Trojans in the district and regular-season finale.
The Coyotes are 2-0 in district play and end the regular season Oct. 27 against the Rockets, who are tied for second with Artesia at 1-1. The Trojans are winless in league play at 0-2.
Loving comeback falls short against Eunice
Friday night in Loving, the Cardinals edged the Falcons 35-28 as both teams played in a tight District 2-4A contest.
Loving led 14-13 at halftime as the Cardinals tried to put the game away in the second half.
Falcons quarterback Kaleb Rodriguez tried to rally the team in the final period on two successful touchdown scores.
The drives were not enough as the Cardinals held on for the win.

Las Cruces outpaces Carlsbad
Tied 7-7 at the end of the first quarter, the Las Cruces Bulldawgs poured on the offense in the second period outscoring the Carlsbad Cavemen 29-0 enroute to a 43-14 victory Thursday night in Las Cruces.
The Cavemen (2-7, 1-3) are riding a two-game losing streak in District 6-3/4A. Carlsbad ends the regular season at 7 p.m. Oct. 27 at Hobbs High School.
