ESPN College GameDay has a new intro song in 2023

After decades on the air, there is still no better place to start your college gameday viewing than with ESPN’s signature pregame show, College GameDay. But this year the traveling roadshow will have a brand new intro to the program, ending a lengthy run with country stars Big & Rich.

In a message posted on the band’s X account, formerly known as Twitter, country stars Big Kenny and John Rich announced their time as the opening act to College GameDay has come to an end after 16 seasons. And while the Nashville music artists did not confirm who will take on the role of opening GameDay, they did say it was an honor to pass on the torch to ESPN’s next GameDay opener.

If you need a refresher on the Big & Rich intro that played at the start of College GameDay for the past 16 years, here you go…

ESPN’s College GameDay will air for the first time on location in Week 1 from Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturday, Sept. 2. The pregame show will be in Charlotte for the matchup between South Carolina and North Carolina in an ACC vs. SEC matchup.

Earlier in August, ESPN revealed its musical anthem for the 2023 season, “Something Real” by Post Malone.

Who do you think should do the new opening to ESPN’s College GameDay? Or should ESPN just tap back into the roots of the program with a more classic approach?

One can dream.
