ESPN’s College GameDay crew made their College Football Playoff predictions

Ladies and gentlemen, we did it.

The 2023 college football season has officially kicked off with Week 0 starting Saturday with seven games played. It was great to get college football back on our screens as we now look forward to seeing the Tigers on the field for their September 4 matchup with the Duke Blue Devils

To open the season, the ESPN College GameDay crew not only made their predictions for the ACC champion in 2023 but their College Football Playoff predictions as well. How do Desmond Howard, Kirk Herbstreit, and Pat McAfee see the CFP playing out?

Let’s start with Desmond Howard, who has been comically bad with his CFP predictions for the past two seasons. Howard was far less ridiculous with his choices this season, choosing Alabama, Florida State, Michigan, and Texas in the final four. He chose his alma mater, Michigan, to defeat Alabama for the national championship.

Herbstreit and McAfee chose the same four teams: Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, and Ohio State. Herbstreit chose Bama over Ohio State, and McAfee chose Bama over Ohio State for the national championship.

What do you think? Personally, I believe an ACC team returns to the CFP. I lean toward Clemson, but there is a real chance it is Florida State. The 2023 season is off to a great start, and we cannot wait to see the Tigers back on the field.
