EDGE transfer added to Florida football roster ahead of fall camp

Former East Los Angeles College edge rusher Quincy Ivory was added to the Florida Gators’ 2023 fall roster on Wednesday.

Ivory committed during an official visit to the Swamp in June, but he had to wait to finish up his associate degree over the summer to join the team. With everything working out as planned, Ivory is now in Gainesville and ready to get to work with the team.

With three years of eligibility remaining, Ivory can afford to be a late addition in the 2023 cycle. It will take him some time to catch up to the rest of the team, most of whom have been together for over six months. There are a few summer enrollees in the same position, but they are freshmen.

Princely Umanmielen is expected to be the team’s top edge defender with Justus Boone entering fall camp as the likely option to play defensive end. Scooby Williams might be the only other edge with experience on the roster, so there’s room for Ivory to get some snaps in, especially against weaker opponents this season.

In 2022, he made 22 tackles, including 12.5 for a loss and 8.5 sacks. He also forced two fumbles and recovered three. Ivory has some experience playing quarterback at the college level, which he says has helped him anticipate plays as a defender.
