Eagles vs. Cowboys: Our betting breakdown for this pivotal NFC East showdown

The 2023 NFC East division title could be decided on Sunday afternoon when the Eagles travel to Dallas to take on the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football in Week 14.

The Eagles are coming off their worst loss in nearly two years in a 42-19 massacre at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship rematch a weekend ago.

After a 3-2 start, the Cowboys have been one of the best teams in the entire league. They're on a four-game winning streak and have won six of their last seven contests.

The only loss Dallas suffered over this time period was a 28-23 loss in Philadelphia five weeks ago.

Can the Cowboys tie the Eagles atop the division or will Philadelphia further extend its lead in the NFC East?

Here's our betting preview for this must-watch matchup on Sunday afternoon at AT&T Stadium.

Eagles vs. Cowboys spread: Cowboys -3 (-120), Eagles +3.5 (-115)

Philadelphia Eagles running back D'Andre Swift (0) celebrates his touchdown with center Jason Kelce (62) during the second quarter of an NFL football game, Sunday, Oct. 15, 2023, in East Rutherford NJ.

When it comes to against the spread (ATS), these are two of the top three teams in all of football in terms of covering the spread on a week-to-week basis.

The Eagles are a league-best 7-3-2 ATS while the Cowboys are one of six teams right behind them at 8-4 against the spread through Week 13.

In terms of covering, this matchup has been just about even as Dallas holds the small edge of covering in 6 of the past 10 meetings against its division rival.

However, when diving deeper, the Cowboys have covered in five straight at home against Philadelphia.

Even though this line has moved two full points since it opened, I'd still lay the points in this situation with the Cowboys being so dominant at home this season.

The best number to get Dallas is as a field goal favorite but with a price of -120. If you wanted to get a better available price, you'd have to lay -3.5 but would be a better value at even money (+100).

Prediction: Cowboys -3

Eagles vs. Cowboys total: Over/Under 51.5 points (-110)

The current line of 51.5 points is the highest total on the board this week and I'd still bet on the over in this spot.

The Cowboys defense allowed a middle-of-the pack Seahawks offense to put up 406 yards of total offense and score 35 points.

Now they welcome in an Eagles' offense that has 25+ points in eight of 12 games this season, including 28 in their first matchup.

On the other side, the Cowboys have scored 30+ points in all six matchups at AT&T Stadium. They've gone over this line in four of their last six contests and all four home games since Week 7.

I believe this total is still low and would wager on this number now before it potentially moves higher the closer we get to kickoff on Sunday afternoon.

There's a handful of sportsbooks that have the line at 51.1 with a price of -110 (Bet $110 to next $100).

Prediction: Over 51.5 points (-110)

After an embarrassing performance last week, there's no doubt in my mind they can bounce back in this spot. The Seahawks proved in Week 13 that this Cowboys defense is beatable even when they're at home.

This was a track meet last season even with Jalen Hurts sidelined where there were 74 combined points between the two NFC foes.

While we might not approach that high of a number on Sunday evening, this still has all the makings of yet another shootout between two of the top offenses in the NFL.

The difference to me is I have more faith in the Cowboys' defense to get a stop when they need to right now than the Eagles who have struggled to get stops when they have to.

Philadelphia has yet to win in Dallas since 2017 and that streak will continue this weekend.

BetMGM has the best available odds for Cowboys moneyline with a price of -175 (Bet $175 to net $100).

Prediction: Cowboys 31, Eagles 27
