Eagles depth chart 2024: Is Parris Campbell 3rd WR? D-line rotation without Haason Reddick

PHILADELPHIA − To say the Eagles have been busy since free agency started on March 13 is an understatement.

They have signed nearly a dozen new players, traded for a backup quarterback in Kenny Pickett and re-signed two of their own free agents in edge rusher Brandon Graham and tight end Albert Okwuengbunam.

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman even broke his own tradition and splurged on a running back in Saquon Barkley (three years, as much as $37.8 million), a linebacker in Devin White (one year, $7.5 million), and a safety in Chauncey Gardner-Johnson (three years, $33 million).

But it's the under-the-radar signings that could go a long way in determining how successful the Eagles will be in 2024.

The Eagles added to that Thursday by signing wide receiver Parris Campbell and cornerback Tyler Hall.

Campbell and fellow wide receiver free agent signee DeVante Parker don't answer the Eagles' need for a third wide receiver. Campbell was the Colts' second-round draft pick in 2019. He was taken two spots after the Eagles selected J.J. Arcega-Whiteside. Campbell has only been a little more successful than Arcega-Whiteside, who's playing in the Canadian Football League.

In Campbell's five seasons, he has only had more than 20 catches and 200 yards once. That came in 2022 with the Colts, when Campbell had 63 catches for 623 yards. Campbell signed with the Giants in 2023, but had just 20 catches for 104 yards, a paltry 5.2 yards per catch.

Parker, meanwhile, is 31 years old, and the Patriots are on the hook for $3.5 million of his $4.7 million salary this season, an indication that his best days are behind him.

So that could leave the Eagles turning to the NFL draft for their third wide receiver. After all, free agency can't solve every problem.

But for the new Eagles, it's not about the past anymore, as White put it earlier this week when asked about his disappointing 2023 season with Tampa Bay.

"I kind of ended that chapter," White said. "I’m all tunnel vision on the future, and what can happen in the future here."

The Eagles are counting on that. Here's a look at who came, who left, what they still need, and a depth chart:

Kenny Pickett, shown throwing a pass for his former team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, during the 2023 season. The Eagles traded for Pickett on March 15, 2024.

Quarterback

Who came: Kenny Pickett (trade-Steelers)

Who left: Marcus Mariota (free agent-Commanders)

What they still need: Nothing.

Depth chart: Jalen Hurts, Pickett, Tanner McKee

WENTZ TRAIL: The unintended trail-blazing way Carson Wentz led Kenny Pickett to Eagles, spun QB carousel

CHANGING PLANS? Eagles mock draft 2024: How free agent frenzy changes strategy. Think AJ Brown, Lane Johnson

Running back

Who came: Saquon Barkley (free agent-Giants), Tyron Davis-Price (free agent-49ers)

Who left: D'Andre Swift (free agent-Bears). Boston Scott and Rashaad Penny are free agents, but have yet to sign with anyone.

What they still need: The Eagles could use a young running back in the draft to work in behind Barkley and Kenny Gainwell. They could also add a veteran, whether it's Scott or Penny returning, or someone else.

Depth chart: Barkley, Gainwell, Davis-Price

Tight end

Who came: Albert Okwuegbunam re-signed.

Who left: Jack Stoll (free agent-Giants)

What they still need: Perhaps a tight end on Day 3 of the draft to compete with Grant Calcaterra for the third tight end spot.

Depth chart: Dallas Goedert, Okwuegbunam, Calcaterra

New York Giants wide receiver Parris Campbell (0) is tackled by Seattle Seahawks cornerback Devon Witherspoon (21) in the first half at MetLife Stadium on Monday, Oct. 2, 2023, in East Rutherford.

Wide receiver

Who came: DeVante Parker (free agent-Patriots), Parris Campbell (free agent-Giants)

Who left: Quez Watkins, Julio Jones and Olamide Zaccheaus are all free agents who have yet to sign with another team.

What they still need: A true third receiver. Parker, who's 31, and Campbell are more likely depth guys. The Eagles could get their third WR behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith in the draft, perhaps as soon as the first round.

Depth chart: Brown, Smith, Parker, Campbell, Britain Covey

Offensive line

Who came: G/C Matt Hennessy (free agent-Falcons)

Who left: C Jason Kelce (retire), T Jack Driscoll (free agent-Dolphins), Sua Opeta (free agent-Buccaneers)

What they still need: Another young player in the draft. The Eagles are expected to go with Cam Jurgens at center, leaving right guard for either Tyler Steen or Hennessy. But the Eagles lost their swing tackle in Driscoll, and an early-round tackle can fill that role while learning from Jordan Mailata and Lane Johnson.

Depth chart (from left): Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Jurgens, Steen, Johnson. Top backups: Hennessy, Fred Johnson.

Defensive line

Who came: Bryce Huff (free agent-Jets), Zack Baun (free agent-Saints), Julian Okwara (free agent-Lions), PJ Mustipher (free agent-Saints), Brandon Graham (re-signed)

Who left: Haason Reddick (?), Fletcher Cox (retired)

What they still need: Perhaps a veteran at defensive tackle for depth, an edge rusher in the draft, especially if Reddick is traded or released.

Depth chart: (edge rushers) Huff, Josh Sweat, Nolan Smith, Brandon Graham; (defensive tackles) Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Milton Williams, Moro Ojomo

New Orleans Saints running back Jamaal Williams (21) runs with the ball as Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Devin White (45) and linebacker Lavonte David (54) tackle during the first quarter at Raymond James Stadium.

Linebacker

Who came: Devin White (free agent-Buccaneers), Oren Burks (free agent-49ers), Baun

Who left: Nicholas Morrow (free agent-Bills). Zach Cunningham, Shaquille Leonard, Shaun Bradley are all free agents who have yet to sign with another team.

What they still need: Perhaps another linebacker in the draft to provide depth, while keeping in mind that White is only signed for one season. The Eagles also have Nakobe Dean and Ben VanSumeren, signed as an undrafted free agent in 2023.

Depth chart: Dean, White, Burks, Baun, VanSumeren

Cornerback

Who came: Tyler Hall (free agent-Raiders)

Who left: Avonte Maddox (released)

What they still need: The Eagles are expected to have Isaiah Rodgers as the starting nickel, pending his reinstatement from a year-long gambling suspension, with Hall as the backup. On the outside, James Bradberry is still on the roster, but the Eagles could draft his replacement early, or give Kelee Ringo and/or Eli Ricks a chance opposite Darius Slay.

Depth chart: Slay, Bradberry, Ringo, Ricks; (nickel) Rodgers, Hall.

Safety

Who came: Chauncey Gardner-Johnson (free agent-Lions)

Who left: Kevin Byard (released-Bears), Justin Evans (free agent)

What they still need: More depth behind starters Gardner-Johnson and Reed Blankenship. Sydney Brown tore his ACL in the season finale, so he might not be ready for the start of the season.

Depth chart: Gardner-Johnson, Blankenship, Tristin McCollum

Specialists

Kicker Jake Elliott, punter Braden Mann and long snapper Rick Lovato all signed new contracts.
