Dwayne Haskins set up a life-long rivalry with his reaction to the Giants taking Daniel Jones

Dwayne Haskins is going to be extra motivated to beat the New York Giants for the rest of his career. The team gave Haskins plenty of ammunition Thursday when they passed over Haskins to select Duke quarterback Daniel Jones with the No. 6 pick.

Haskins didn’t seem too pleased about that.

Upon hearing the pick, Haskins smirked and laughed to himself.

It’s unclear whether Haskins was upset about being passed over by New York, or whether he was being dismissive of Jones as a player.

While the 21-year-old Haskins wasn’t the second quarterback off the board, he didn’t have to wait long. Washington struck at No. 15, taking Haskins and creating a situation where he could face off against Jones and the Giants the rest of his career.

Haskins carried over some of that fire into his first interview after being drafted. He said he had a chip on his shoulder, and that “the league done messed up.”

Haskins could prove the Giants wrong immediately. With Alex Smith injured, Case Keenum is the only person standing in the way of Haskins winning the starting job in Washington.

His rivalry with Jones, however, may have to wait. Giants general manager Dave Gettleman said it could be three years before Jones — who was drafted No. 6 overall — actually takes the field.
