The 2023 Louisiana high school volleyball regular season will kick off Aug. 28 statewide, but jamborees are slated to start Aug. 21.
Here’s a look at 20 North Louisiana volleyball athletes to follow this fall.
Sicily Fontaine
Airline, Sr.
Position: Libero
The skinny: “Sicily brings a strong focus and desire to never let a ball touch the floor. She has a great deal of talent and can make any strong opposing hitter have a frustrating day. Her commitment and ability are shown in the fact that she is playing the game at the next level. She has committed to UNC-Pembrook a Division II in North Carolina. “We’re excited to see her shine on the court.” Coach Reggie Digilormo
Madison Smith
Benton, Fresh.
Position: Middle blocker
The skinny: This 5-foot-9 newcomer, a quiet leader on and off the court, allows her actions to speak louder than her words.

Lola Overdyke
Byrd, Soph.
Position: Middle blocker
The skinny: “The 5-foot-11 Overdyke is a great all-around player. She hits hard, plays defense well and, to top it off, she’s great teammate to all of those around her.” Coach Bri Saulsbury
Kiya Casey
Calvary, Jr.
Position: Outside hitter
The skinny: The 6-foot Casey is committed to Ouachita Baptist. What makes her great is that she is a 6-rotation player who sees the court well, anticipates what the offense will do and is very good at finishing the point. She finished the 2022 season ranked No. 1 in digs in LHSAA Division IV and No. 2 in both kills and hitting percentage per MaxPreps Volleyball.
Riley Medlin
Caddo Magnet, Sr.
Position: Setter
The skinny: “Riley is a brilliant, determined and fierce leader. As Magnet’s primary setter she takes control of the court and is an aggressive force at all times. Her acute court awareness makes her a true weapon for the Magnet offense.” Coach Rachel Bow
Tia Taylor
Captain Shreve, Jr.
Position: Outside hitter
The skinny: “Tia is already a standout player for us this season. Her athleticism is seen in everything she does on the court. Not only is she a dynamic and powerful hitter for us, but her energy and hustle are also a key component in our defense.” Coach Lindsey Bruce
Caitlin Clampitt
Evangel, Sr.
Position: Outside hitter
The skinny: “Caitlin didn’t play last year due to transfer rules. She came to us from Shreveport Force. She played with TC Elite 18 nationals for club. She will be a huge asset to our program.” Coach Sarah Shelton
Camriana Taylor
Green Oaks, Soph.
Position: Outside hitter
The skinny: Taylor will be counted on to provide a lot of offense and defense for the Lady Giants.
Haylee Crowder
Haughton, Sr.
Position: Libero
The skinny: “Haylee is our best defender, best server and is our smartest player. Last season she led the team in digs and aces. She’s worked really hard this off season and is primed to have a big year for us.” Coach Justin Ginn
McCullough Lawson
Loyola, Sr.
Position: Outside hitter
The skinny: “McCullough works hard and is always looking to improve. She is coachable, an encouraging teammate on and off the court and is an exceptional leader.” Coach La’Coria Tademy
Abby Reese
Many, Jr.
Position: Setter
The skinny: “Abby is the heartbeat of our team. To go along with being one of the best teammates, her ability to play so many positions stands out.” Coach Keaton Booker
Lora Cole
Natchitoches Central, Sr.
Position: Middle blocker
The skinny: The 6-foot-2 Cole will be a force to reckon with in the middle. She moves great along the net, and hits aggressively. Cole had 210 kills and 130 blocks in district matches alone.
Sarah Jones
Neville, Sr.
Position: Outside hitter
The skinny: “Sarah is a passionate, hardworking player who has given it her all during preseason conditioning and summer ball. She’s worked to improve her individual skills as well as continuing to be a verbal and physical leader on and off the court.” Coach Ashton Burch
Peyshance Peek
North Caddo, Sr.
Position: Middle blocker
The skinny: “Peek is a very strong player both on and off the court, she plays strong both offensively and defensively, is a great leader to her team and very good at helping her teammates.” Coach Jeanne Hill
Caitlynn Johnson
Parkway, Jr.
Position: Middle blocker
The skinny: “Caitlynn is an explosive player on the court. She is strong on both offense and defense and able to read her opponent. She a phenomenal teammate and leader who pushes herself both on the court and in the classroom.” Coach Barbara Curry
Emma Ivey
Pineville, Jr.
Position: Outside hitter
The skinny: “Emma stepped up for us in big ways last season as a sophomore. She was a defensive specialist only her freshman year and when asked to play all the way around, she rose to the challenge and ended up leading the teams in kills and aces. She is consistent, vocal and aggressive on the court. She played every set last season from the outside and in left-back. She posted 110 kills, 80 digs and 20 aces last year.” Coach Olivia Huvall
Leigha Christen
Red River, Sr.
Position: Setter
The skinny: “Leigha is very versatile with a great work ethic on the court and in the classroom.” Coach Ellie Drew
Harper Cauley
Ruston, Jr.
Position: Outside hitter
The skinny: Harper is a physical player who usually doesn't come off the court. She jumps well and sees the court at a mature level. She carries a lot of expectation in both front and back row. She is a vocal leader who rarely misses a workout and has led the team in attendance this offseason. Last season she led the team in kills and aces and was second in digs behind All-State Libero, Lorelei Freling.
Tra’Dashia Smith
Southwood, Jr.
Position: Libero
The skinny: “Smith’s leadership on the court, coachable attitude and understanding of the game makes her stand out among other players. She has a strong serve and the ability to read the court when passing and digging the ball. Smith is an honor roll student keeping in mind that she is a student-athlete, and student comes first. Smith voted Top 10 All-Camp Team at the Centenary Team Camp this summer.” Coach Leslie Hammond
Kassidi Craig
West Monroe, Sr.
Position: Outside hitter
The skinny: “At 5-11, Craig is a versatile front row player. She is vocal on the floor and off the court. She’s an outstanding student in the classroom and is really looking to take the team to a higher level this season. She had 42 aces, 58 kills and 18 blocks last season.” Coach Emilea Coons
