Dolphins WR DeVante Parker returns to practice, but Will Fuller's hand still healing

MIAMI GARDENS — Dolphins receiver DeVante Parker took a major step toward returning to the lineup when he resumed practicing Wednesday.

Parker has been on injured reserve the past month with a hamstring injury but could play in Sunday’s game against the visiting New York Giants.

Coach Brian Flores said center Greg Mancz (ankle) also is resuming work but receiver Will Fuller is not. Flores said Fuller hasn’t played since Oct. 3 because of multiple fractures in his finger.

“He had a pretty significant fracture in the finger,” Flores said. “There were a lot of broken bones in there and it’s still healing. He’s just not able to get out there yet.”

Parker has been out since the Oct. 31 game at Buffalo. For the season, he has 25 receptions for 327 yards and one touchdown in five games.

“DeVante is obviously an elite receiver in this league,” tight end Mike Gesicki said. “He can make plays downfield, can make contested catches. So to add another guy like that into the mix, I think you guys all know what DeVante is capable of so we’d love to have him back out there.”

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was happy about the encouraging step.

“It’s good to have D.P. back out there,” Tagovailoa said. “He’s looked pretty good in practice today. To me, it didn’t look like he was limited in any of the reps, so that’s very encouraging to see.”

Dolphins offensive tackle Jesse Davis was given a veteran’s rest day Wednesday and did not practice. Also resting, but limited, were cornerbacks Xavien Howard and Byron Jones.

Cornerback Trill Williams (hamstring) missed practice.

The other limited players were guard Rob Hunt (back), safety Brandon Jones (ankle, elbow), running back Phillip Lindsay (ankle), linebacker Jaelan Phillips (hip) and tight end Adam Shaheen (knee).

For the Giants, coach Joe Judge was not ruling out the possibility that starting quarterback Daniel Jones (neck) could play Sunday. Jones was limited in Wednesday’s workout. It was originally thought that veteran Mike Glennon would start.

The Giants held out several players from practice: linebacker Trent Harris (ankle), fullback Cullen Gillaspia (calf), defensive back Adoree Jackson (quad), receiver John Ross (illness), tight end Kyle Rudolph (ankle), receiver Sterling Shepard (quad), tight end Kaden Smith (knee) and receiver Kadarius Toney (oblique, quad).
