Dolphins set 13 team, individual records in 70-20 annihilation of Denver Broncos

The Dolphins set numerous team records during their 70-20 win against the Denver Broncos Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium. In all, Miami broke or tied 13 team or individual records on one of the most surreal days in NFL history.

"Shame on us if you put a ceiling on what you’re capable of," Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said when asked if the team could repeat its record-setting day. "If you just worry about the right things, you don’t worry about anything but your technique and fundamentals and your assignment within the team. You don’t worry about stats, you don’t worry about credit, it’s amazing what a group of people can do going in one direction. I think the points don’t carry over, but I do think this is a meaningful game for a lot of guys to understand to not let an opportunity on the field together slip through your fingers in any way, shape or form because collectively, we have all the right people to do some pretty cool stuff on the football field."

Cool stuff indeed. Here those records are:

Most points in NFL game in team history

The Dolphins' 70 points tied for the third most in NFL history and were the most in the league since 1966 when Sonny Jurgensen and Washington defeated the New York Giants, 72-41. Interestingly, Jurgensen passed for only 145 yards.

The Dolphins' 726 total yards were the second-most in a game in NFL history and most since 1951 when the Los Angeles Rams defeated the New York Yankees (yes, that is not a misprint) 54-14 while totaling 735 yards.

In only his second NFL game, the rookie Achane posted 203 yards on 18 carries (11.3 average) and two touchdowns. Mostert had 82 yards on 13 carries (6.3 average) and three touchdowns. And let's not forget Chris Brooks, who entered the game in the fourth quarter and added 66 yards on the first nine carries of his career. Achane also had two receiving TDs - both on shovel passes from Tua Tagovailoa.
