MRI on Dolphins QB Tannehill shows no structural damage
An MRI performed Monday on the injured knee of Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill revealed no structural damage, according to the Miami Herald, but it's still uncertain whether he will play in the Dolphins' game against Indianapolis on Sunday.
Tannehill suffered a hyperextended left knee and deep thigh bruise in Sunday's victory over the Jets. According to the Herald, Tannehill is still having a lot of pain, and his status for the next game may be determined by the amount of mobility he shows in practice this week.
Tannehill exited in the first quarter of Sunday's 30-9 victory after twisting the knee while getting sacked by Calvin Pace. He had an X-ray after the game. Matt Moore filled in for Tannehill the remainder of the contest.
The rookie said he could have returned if it were an emergency and that he hopes to play this Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.
"I was optimistic about getting back in the game, and I'm optimistic about getting ready to go next week," Tannehill told The Palm Beach Post. "I could've gone if it was an emergency situation. (I) was trying to get it loose so I could be good to go, (but) we were up big and Matt was doing a good job."
Trainers put a brace on Tannehill's knee and he jogged around the Dolphins' sideline to warm it back up. However, he hobbled too much and trainers were unconvinced he could return to action.
"I'm going to do what I can to get it ready to go, get that swelling out of there," Tannehill said.
