Dodgers great Maury Willis: In memoriam, 1932-2022

Maury Wills, R.I.P. at 89

Former Dodgers great Maury Wills died at the age of 89 at his home in Arizona. Wills stole 104 bases in 1962, the year he was NL MVP. Overall, he led the National League in steals six straight seasons. Wills was the first MLB player to bat on artificial turf, when he hit a leadoff single for the Dodgers against the Houston Astros on April 18, 1966, in the first game played at the Houston Astrodome.
