Dirty hit? Social media reactions to Cincinnati DE Myles Murphy's shot on CJ Stroud
Cincinnati Bengals rookie defensive end Myles Murphy, the team's first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, joined teammates Trey Hendrickson and Logan Wilson in a hit on Houston Texans rookie quarterback CJ Stroud during the first quarter of the Bengals' 30-27 loss at Paycor Stadium, and appeared to make helmet-to-helmet contact with Stroud as Stroud went to the ground while attempting to throw.
Stroud pointed to his helmet after the hit.
Several NFL accounts on social media suggested that Murphy might expect a fine for the hit, even though he wasn't penalized during the game.
Stroud got up slowly after a hit later in the first half by Hendrickson.
Reactions to Murphy's hit on Stroud:
Oh boy... this looks like a very dirty hit to the head of #Texans rookie QB C.J. Stroud.
Look at #99 Myles Murphy at the end of this play.
