Dillon Brooks in a Los Angeles Lakers uniform, can this actually happen?

Well, after news broke that Chris Paul joined former rival the Golden State Warriors earlier this month, Brooks could be following in Paul’s footsteps and suit up the purple and gold, this after trash talking the Memphis Grizzlies out of the first round of the NBA playoffs against the Lakers.

More: Where will Dillon Brooks land in NBA free agency? Here are five options.

It was reported that Brooks plans to meet with the Milwaukee Bucks, Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets.

Given the history between Brooks and the Lakers, specifically LeBron James, it would be interesting to see how that dynamic could actually work out.

After Brooks infamously said that he “poke bears” and doesn’t respect James because he’s “old,” James took those comments personally and escorted the Grizzlies out of the playoffs, winning the series in six games.

Brooks, the polarizing defender and free agent, made it known that he was expecting more with his contract from free agency, but after his antics this season, the Grizzlies responded with reports that left Brooks where he is today.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reported following the Grizzlies playoff exit that the team was not going to be brought back “under any circumstances” back in May.

The Grizzlies have a $12.9 midlevel exception this offseason, and as both parties were unable to meet in the middle on Brooks’ contract, Brooks became a free agent.
