TEREZ PAYLOR: This has been a very, very difficult week, I'm sure, for the people involved in this story, but also the fans of that once glorious franchise. You know, I feel like I say this a lot on our podcast, but Washington fans do listen. And I do know how passionate they are about their team.

But I think it's really, really important to remember that with all this other stuff going on, right, there are people affected. And it goes beyond football, guys. So I know that the rush is to just say, you know, it's not that big of a story, or, you know, belabor the name

Change. But in both instances, there are people being hurt. And that should always come before things involving a professional sport, loyalty involving a professional sport. You hear what I'm saying?

CHARLES ROBINSON: Yeah, absolutely. I mean, look, we got a lot of Chiefs fans. You and I went through this with Tyreek Hill. Did we not?

We went through this conversation about there can be a duality when you're a fan. You can root for the laundry, and you can also go, hey, you know what, I want to hold people accountable in my franchise. This happens often in NFL franchises.

The Baltimore Ravens, when things happened with Ray Rice-- you can root for the Ravens, but you can also sit there and go, you know, I want this dude held accountable for what I just saw on a video. You know? The Carolina Panthers and Greg Hardy, or when Greg Hardy ends up--

TEREZ PAYLOR: It happens all the time.

CHARLES ROBINSON: Yeah, when Greg Hardy ends up in Dallas-- you can root for Dallas, but you can also hope that Jerry holds Greg Hardy accountable--

TEREZ PAYLOR: Right.

CHARLES ROBINSON: --if not himself for signing Greg Hardy. So you know, fans-- you don't have to-- you know, I get it. I understand. Growing up with a team, there's a lot of emotions involved in it. There's all these different things. But I would say the same thing, like, you can make it personal when you imagine it's your daughter there crying in the bathroom with some other woman commiserating about the abuse they're dealing with.
