Did Redskins basically give away gameplan for Josh Norman vs. Giants' OBJ?

Allowing for the possibility of gamesmanship or misdirection, we are a bit surprised at the report that came out Wednesday regarding Washington Redskins cornerback Josh Norman and his impending matchup with New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

Much has been made this season of Norman’s whereabouts on the field following his lack of shadowing Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown in Week 1. Combine that with the fact that this week marks the reunion of Norman and arch-rival Beckham, and it will be fascinating to see what might happen this week if the two lock horns after their Week 15 melee last season.

But did Norman or someone basically spill the beans on what the Redskins plan to do with Norman this weekend?

If you’re Giants head coach Ben McAdoo, are you not planting Beckham in the slot on the first play Sunday and testing this theory? After all, Beckham is a very good slot receiver and Norman has not been known to venture inside much. Plus, this report from ESPN’s Britt McHenry sounds like it comes with some real certainty.

Again, it could be a ruse. But … what if it’s not? Other NFL players appear as perplexed as we are.

That’s former Redskins defensive tackle Terrance Knighton, who has been rumored to be a possibility to return to the team given their injuries up front.

Watching Norman and Beckham get ugly last season was quite the sight, and the refs are sure to be keyed in on them if and when they do match up. Plus, the war of words carried over into this summer, so there’s a feeling of unfinished business between them.

But if the Giants believe a word of what’s coming out of D.C., they might just find a way for Beckham to avoid Norman altogether.
