What did Nebraska’s interim head coach Mickey Joseph say about Rutgers football

On Friday night, Rutgers football will host a Nebraska team that is hungry and in need of another win to continue what might just be a turn-around after a nightmare start to the season.

Saturday’s 35-21 win over Indiana was the first for the program under interim head coach Mickey Joseph. With the win, Nebraska is now 2-3 (1-1 Big Ten). They face a Rutgers team (3-2, 0-2 Big Ten) that has lost two straight games but is still halfway towards the needed win total for bowl eligibility.

The game will kick-off at 7 PM ET on FS1.

Joseph, during his media availability on Monday, was asked one question about Rutgers, namely what he has seen from the team on defense and on offense. He responded with the usual nod to Rutgers and head coach Greg Schiano being a tough and determined team.

“Rutgers has a really tough defense that’s really good against the run. I think they’ve only given up 292 yards or something like that per game,” Joseph told reporters this week.

“This is Schiano, if you know one thing about him, he’s going to have tough football teams. So it’s going to be a battle. It’s going to be a 9-on-7 drill.”

Coming off a bye week, the win over the weekend against Indiana was emotional and cathartic for the Cornhuskers. For the first time all season, Nebraska looked and played like the team that many people thought could challenge to be in the Big Ten Championship Game this season.
