Detroit Pistons vs. L.A. Clippers: Injury report, lineups, time, TV channel and more

If you're looking to get a bang for your buck at Little Caesars Arena, Friday might be the game for you, in terms of star power.

The Detroit Pistons host the star-laden Los Angeles Clippers, who have stockpiled some of the biggest names in the sport from the past decade, and while they may not be at the peak of their powers anymore, the mix is working. And for the first time in seemingly forever, the team is actually healthy, with a few short-term exceptions.

The Clips are of course led by Kawhi Leonard, who helped both the San Antonio Spurs and Toronto Raptors win championships before his run in L.A. Leonard has struggled mightily to stay healthy since leaving San Antonio. He hasn't played more than 60 games in a season since 2016-17, although his 2019-20 run was cut short because of COVID-19. But the 32-year-old has already suited up for 42 of the Clippers' 46 games in 2023-24, and surprise, the Clippers are in third place in the Western Conference. That doesn't seem like a coincidence.

Like Leonard, fellow wing Paul George has struggled to stay on the floor consistently in his time with the Clippers, but has played in 43 games so far in his age 33 season. Both players are shooting above 40% from 3-point range.

The Clippers also have former MVP Russell Westbrook, 35, coming off the bench, where he's putting up 11.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game and has played in every game.

But what has really helped the Clippers get a fresh look this year has been the midseason addition of James Harden, who has embraced a pass-first role so far, putting up 17.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 8.5 assists per game this season. He's also shooting above 40% from 3. The Clippers lost the first five games Harden, 34, played with the team, but have looked great ever since and have soared to a 28-8 mark since.

The porous Pistons defense will have its hands full, especially without power forward/center Isaiah Stewart, who is set to be out for at least the next two weeks with an ankle injury. Plus, Mike Muscala, whom the Pistons acquired recently and has helped the team spread the floor with his shooting abilities, has been placed in concussion protocol after he left Wednesday's game in the first quarter.

Expect Danilo Gallinari, who was in the same trade as Muscala, to see more minutes after he stepped up and played over 22 minutes against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He scored 20 points while going 4-for-4 from 3-point range, after not getting any minutes the three games prior.

Up next for the Pistons is another home game, Sunday afternoon vs. the Orlando Magic.

Detroit Pistons injury report vs. L.A. Clippers

Isaiah Stewart is set to miss at least the next 10-to-14 days with a left ankle sprain suffered Sunday against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Newly acquired stretch-center Mike Muscala left the game against the Cavaliers with a head injury after just four minutes of game time, and has been placed in concussion protocol and is out indefinitely. Cade Cunningham (left knee) is probable to play.

For the Clippers, forward Paul George is off the injury report after he missed Wednesday's game against the Washington Wizards with a groin injury. Starting center Ivica Zubac was diagnosed with a right calf strain on Jan. 16 and was ruled out for four weeks. Reserve forward Moussa Diabate, the former Michigan Wolverine, remains sidelined with a right hand fracture.
