Detroit Pistons vs. Cleveland Cavaliers injury report, lineups: Will Cade Cunningham play?

The Detroit Pistons are coming off perhaps their best win of the season, Sunday in a 120-106 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Now, after a 2-4 homestand, the Pistons make the short trip over to Cleveland to face the surging Cavaliers. The Cavs have moved into fifth in the Eastern Conference, despite missing starters Darius Garland and Evan Mobley for half the season so far. Mobley returned Monday, playing 21 minutes and scoring 10 points (5-for-7 shooting) with nine rebounds in a 118-108 win over the Los Angeles Clippers.

We'll see if Mobley, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 draft, faces off with the man taken two spots higher by the Pistons, Cade Cunningham. Listed as "probable" once again for this game, Cunningham has missed 9 of the past 10 games due to a left knee strain, returning Saturday and committing seven turnovers in a pathetic loss to Washington. The Pistons went 3-6 in those games without him, and are 3-34 with him.

Jalen Duren is coming off a monster game vs. OKC, where he outplayed Chet Holmgren by collecting 22 points, 21 rebounds and six assists. He faces a tougher physical task in the Cavs' frontline duo of Mobley and Jarrett Allen.

The Cavs won the season's first two matchups, 108-100 on Nov. 17 in Cleveland, and 110-101 on Dec. 2 in Detroit, both apart of the Pistons' NBA-record 28-game losing streak.

Up next for the Pistons is a home game vs. another hot team, the Clippers, on Friday night.

Cade Cunningham (left knee) has twice in the past three games been listed as "probable," only to be ruled out just before tipoff, including Sunday. He's probable to play once again. Isaiah Stewart sprained his left ankle in the fourth quarter Sunday and is out.

It looks like the Cavs will get Darius Garland (fractured jaw) back after he missed the past 19 straight games with his jaw wired shut. They are without reserve guard Ty Jerome (ankle surgery) and veteran center Tristan Thompson (league suspension).
