Detroit Pistons' Killian Hayes suspended three games for punching Moritz Wagner after shove

Detroit Pistons guard Killian Hayes has been suspended three games by the NBA for his role in the altercation during Wednesday's win over the Orlando Magic.

Hayes retaliated after he was shoved into his own bench area by Magic center Moritz Wagner during the second quarter of the Pistons' 121-101 win at Little Caesars Arena. Wagner was suspended for two games for his actions. Pistons guard Hamidou Diallo, who shoved Wagner from behind before Hayes' punch, was suspended one game, NBA executive vice president of basketball operations Joe Dumars announced Thursday night.

Meanwhile, the altercation led to all eight of the Magic's players not in the game to leave the bench area and head toward the Pistons' bench. In response, the league has suspended all eight of those players one game.

However, to ensure the Magic have enough players to play, the NBA is staggering those suspensions. Cole Anthony, Mo Bamba, Wendell Carter Jr., RJ Hampton and Gary Harris will be suspended, along with Wagner, for Friday's game against Washington. Kevon Harris, Admiral Schofield and Franz Wagner will be out for the Jan. 4 game against Oklahoma City.

Both Hayes and Diallo will begin serving their suspensions on Friday when the Pistons visit the Bulls.
